Eligibility:

  1. The official or common language of the nation (as the nationality shown on the passport) where the applicant is from must be English. Identification of the official or common language of a nation is issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of China (Taiwan).

    * If the applicant has dual nationality (ROC Taiwan citizen and other foreign nationality), please use the foreign nationality to apply.

2. Hold a bachelor’s degree or above from an accredited university or college. The list of the accredited universities and colleges is based on the Database for the Reference List of Foreign Universities from the Ministry of Education, Republic of China (Taiwan) website (list).

3. For the teaching qualification, one should meet one of the following requirements:

  1. Hold a state-issued teaching license or certificate.
  2. Have taught English courses in accredited foreign schools for more than one year, or have served as a full-time teaching assistant of English courses in domestic public schools that participate in MOE’s program for more than one year, and have met one of the following requirements:
    1. Hold a bachelor’s degree or above in education, English or a related field, and have studied English language teaching methods, teaching assessment, introduction to second language learning and trial teaching for more than 120 hours.

               2. Hold a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certificate, TEFL (Teaching English                  as a Foreign Language) certificate or CELTA (Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults)                              certificate approved by accredited universities.The courses offered by the university mentioned in item                    b in granting the certificates shall meet the following requirements:

    1. The course includes English language teaching methods, teaching assessment, introduction to second language learning and trial teaching.
    2. The course lasts at least 120 hours.
    3. Distance learning courses shall not exceed two thirds of the total course hours.
  • Applicants should provide a nationwide police check/clearance issued after January 1, 2023 from relevant authorities in his or her home country or the country he or she currently resides in. One should assure the validity of the criminal record/police check during the application process. The certificate must include the name of the applicant, the date of issuance, and state that the applicant has no criminal record.
  • Foreign English Teaching Assistant

  • Foreign English Teacher

    Foreign English Teachers are to cooperate with Taiwanese teachers to enhance the quality of English curriculum, teaching, and assessment in a way to strengthen English professional standards, provide students with positive and immersive English learning environment, and strengthen the student’s overall English abilities. The main job duties for foreign English teachers are listed below:

    1. Work hours are 5 days a week, 8 hours a day.
    2. Conduct co-teaching with Taiwanese teachers up to 20 periods a week.
    3. Provide a positive English learning environment for students by taking part in various school activities, exhibitions, performances, and projects. Create a rich immersive English learning environment via diverse approaches to enhance student’s overall English ability, learning interests, and confidence.
    4. Participate in English teaching meetings, professional development activities, extracurricular activities, competitions, exhibitions, performances, and other related projects.
    5. Prepare lessons with colleagues or independently, including writing lesson plans, preparing teaching materials, grading assignments, and assessing evaluations.
    6. Accept assignments from the school to participate in English teaching professional development activities, competitions, exhibitions, performances, and other related affairs organized by the government.

  • Foreign English Teaching Assistant

    Foreign English teaching assistants work under the guidance of Taiwanese teachers to create a positive, diverse, and immersive English learning environment that encourages proactive English learning amongst students, thus raising overall English ability. The main job duties for foreign English teaching assistants are listed below:

    1. Service hours are 5 days a week, 8 hours a day.
    2. Assist Taiwanese teachers during class up to 20 periods a week.
    3. Assist in various school activities, presentations, exhibitions, performances, and projects. Create a rich immersive English learning environment via diverse approaches to enhance student’s overall English ability, learning interests, and confidence.

For Foreign English Teacher

  1. Monthly Salary (Depending on teaching experience)
    • Holders of a bachelor’s degree: NT$ 65,230~85,380.
    • Holders of a master’s degree: NT$ 72,760~94,980.
    • Holders of a doctoral degree: NT$ 75,950~100,010.

    * The salary is based upon a teacher’s highest education attainment and teaching experiences (service length). Teaching experience only refers to a domestic or overseas public junior high or high school or elementary school or a legally registered domestic private junior high or high school or elementary school. In addition, experiences prior to the acquisition of the teacher certificate, part-time teaching, intern teaching, service less than one year of teaching experience, or as a headmaster/headmistress/principal will not be considered.

  2. Flight Reimbursement

    The maximum subsidy for the single/return trips of flight tickets shall be NT$40,000 each trip based on the actual amount spent.

    * Please note that the airfare reimbursement is subject to the employment contract with your designated school. For more details, please confirm with your designated school after receiving school placement.

  3. Housing Allowance

    The contract employer should offer a housing allowance if accommodations cannot be provided. In general, an individual is provided with a housing allowance of NT$5,000 per month while a family is provided with NT$10,000 per month.

    * Exception: The allowance is not applicable if the contract employer provides your accommodation or you live on your own-acquired property. If you and your cohabitant are employed by the same English teaching program, only one shall claim the housing allowance. The maximum amount for housing allowance is NT$10,000.

  4. Performance Bonus

    Normally, teachers who have worked for a school year and have been graded A in annual performance are given an extra month’s pay as a bonus; teachers who have worked for a school year and have been graded B are given an extra 1/2 month’s pay as a bonus.

  5. Overtime Pay

    For elementary school, each period is NT$400; for junior high school, each period is NT$450.

  6. Health Insurance and Labor Insurance

    Health insurance and labor insurance are provided.

Foreign English Teacher Assistant

  1. Monthly Salary

    The program provides a teaching assistant with a monthly salary of NT$48,000.

  2. Flight Reimbursement

    The maximum amount of subsidy for the single/return trips of flight tickets shall be NT$40,000 each trip based on actual amount spent.

    * Please note that the airfare reimbursement is subject to the employment contract with your designated school. For more details, please confirm with your designated school after receiving school placement.

  3. Housing Allowance

    The contract school should offer a housing allowance if accommodations cannot be provided. The housing allowance should be reimbursed on an actual expense basis and capped at NT$26,000 for each school year.

    * Exception: The allowance is not applicable if the contract employer provides your accommodation or you live on your own-acquired property.

  4. Reimbursement for Taking Certificate Class

    The program offers at a maximum of NT$5,000 per month for assistants to take TESOL, TEFL or CELTA classes.

  5. Transportation Allowance

    The program offers a transportation allowance. The transportation allowance should be reimbursed on an actual expense basis and capped at NT$3,000 for each school year.

  6. Health Insurance and Group Accident Insurance/Labor Insurance

    Health insurance and group accident insurance/labor insurance are provided.

  2. Please make sure the scanned/photographed copy of your documents meets the following requirements:
    • The scanned/photographed copy must be CLEAR and LEGIBLE with good image resolution;
    • The scanned/photographed copy must be from the original and in color;
    • Documents must be scanned at the original size;
    • Documents must be placed on a flat and plain background when photographed;
    • Information must not be obstructed (for example, by your fingers, a shadow, or reflections);

For Foreign English Teacher

  • Passport

    Please provide a copy of your passport with photo and personal information.

  • Degree Certificate

    Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree or above from an accredited university or college. The list of the accredited universities and colleges is based on the Database for the Reference List of Foreign Universities from the Ministry of Education, Republic of China (Taiwan) website (list).

  • State-Issued Teaching License/Certificate or proof of qualification

    Applicants should provide one of the following certificates:

    1. Valid state-issued teaching license or certificate.
    2. Proof of teaching experience in accredited foreign schools for more than one year or proof of service as a full-time teaching assistant of English courses in domestic public schools that participate in MOE’s program for more than one year.

    If you provide the second type of proof listed above, you will have to upload one of the additional certificates listed below and fill out the summary table:

    1. Hold a bachelor’s degree or above in education, English, or related field, and should upload proof of course participation (course record or transcript) in English teaching materials, teaching assessment, introduction to second language learning and trial teaching for more than 120 hours.
    2. Hold a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certificate, TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate or CELTA (Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults) certificate approved by the accredited universities.
  • Police Check/Police Clearance Certificate

    Applicants should provide a nationwide police check/clearance issued after January 1, 2023 from competent authorities in his or her home country or the country he or she currently resides in.

  • Statement of Purpose

    A statement of purpose within 700-1500 words. You may include the following aspects in the statement of purpose: your motivation for applying, your background, why you are a good fit for our positions, your career plan, the objectives you wish to accomplish during your time in Taiwan, and your perspective and philosophy of teaching.

  • Teaching Demonstration Video

    The video shall be 4-5 minutes in length (the part over 5 minutes may not be evaluated) and include you teaching a specific topic, concept, or a particular skill. We expect to observe your teaching style, teaching logic, teaching skills, and teaching strategies through the video.

  • 2 Recommendation Letters

    The recommendation letters can be from your teachers, professors, previous or current managers and colleagues, who have known you for a period of time and know about your performance at work.
